Kalista is currently a student at North Shore High School in Long Island, New York. With a profound commitment to criminal justice reform, she set out on a mission to share the transformative journeys of young offenders who have turned their lives around. Kalista was a guest speaker at the TedxYouth@GardenCity conference in June of 2023, where she spoke of concerning political and societal issues that we face in today's society. She is also a self-published author. Through candid conversations in her episodes, she unravels stories of hope, resilience, and redemption.
Sofia enjoys public speaking, spending time outdoors, public forum debate and volunteering at a nearby Peer Diversion Court. Aspiring to be a lawyer, she is dedicated to working with young offenders and helping them share their stories. Sofia believes that juvenile justice provides youth a valuable second chance, a voice, and a healthy opportunity for introspection and self-improvement. She is excited to aid in spreading awareness and narratives from the juvenile justice program.
Jose Norrington is the Senior Development Associate at the Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC), in Los Angeles, California, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s funding strategy. Jose advises the CEO and Development Director on drafting annual goals and plans, researching new funding opportunities, and working closely with program staff to communicate ARC’s impact and financial needs to potential funders through well-crafted proposals and reports. After serving 15 years of incarceration, Jose developed a deep sense of empathy, which fuels his dedication to serving both the incarcerated community and mentoring returning citizens. Over his career, he has forged key relationships with notable figures across the fashion, self-help, music, film, and media industries. A creative writer and aspiring videographer and editor, Jose also brings hands-on skills developed prior to and during his incarceration, including expertise in welding and high-performance automotive mechanics. Guided by the philosophy of Kaizen, he is dedicated to continuous self-improvement and growth.
James Hollywood is a steadfast and dedicated leader, committed to serving and empowering communities across America. A loving husband, father of nine, minister, and accomplished author, James holds degrees in criminology/pre-law, public administration, and strategic communications. Currently pursuing a dual doctorate at Omega Graduate School, his certifications in various fields underscore his commitment to continuous learning. Presently contributing to the Annie E. Casey Foundation, he occupies key positions in state boards and actively participates in system reforms. Notably, he serves as Treasurer on the executive board for the Coalition for Juvenile Justice in Washington, D.C., providing invaluable technical support to juvenile justice systems across the United States.
Guadalupe is currently a student at Cypress High School in Cypress, California. She is passionate about criminal justice and wants to spread the word about this foundation. Intrigued from the start, she wants to see the growth of this mission and help turn the life of young offenders who need a second chance. Through social media platforms she wants to spread awareness of the reality these teenagers face and help stop the negative stigma surrounding them. She believes everyone deserves a second chance and is determined to help the cause.
Angelica is a currently a student at North Shore High School. She has an immense interest in the field and criminal justice and law, and will be working towards majoring in pre-law in college. She always believes that people can redeem themselves and have a second chance in life because no one should be held back with their past mistakes. She hopes to help inspire people with this team and change the misconceptions people may have on juvenile delinquency.
Sumi is currently a junior at Syosset High School. Fascinated by the intricacies of the legal system, she enjoys volunteering at the Nassau County Peer Diversion Court. She participates in Speech and Debate and hopes to use her voice to make a real change. She has spoken at the Nassau County Legislature on behalf of her community and hopes to alleviate the stigma that surrounds juvenile delinquency.
Sophia is a senior at East Meadow High School in Long Island, NY. Experienced in working with individuals, especially juveniles, in court rooms and more, she is very intrigued with our mission to stop the negative stigma surrounding the juvenile system. Through behind the scenes of setting up the episodes with guest speakers and more, she is very passionate about creating a safe place for juveniles to see they are not alone.
Christina Papachristos has been committed to the juvenile justice system for a long time. She attends Garden City High School. She is an active Peer Diversion Court advocate and volunteers monthly. She is a committed member of Garden City’s National Charity league, volunteering regularly at local charity events. She was selected to be a Garden City High School peer educator and has been trained to help teach students about the dangers of alcohol and vaping and to help promote mental health.
